This event takes place in Ilex Forest. When you go by Celebi's Shrine in Ilex Forest when you have the Pikachu Coloured Pichu in your party, a Spiky-Eared Pichu will appear. With the Pikachu Coloured Pichu and the Spiky-Eared Pichu in Ilex Forest, the Spiky-Eared Pichu shall then join your team. This Pichu is completely unique and you will be unable to get it by any other means. However, there are a variety of new details about it. The Spiky-Eared Pichu is always female and appears to be given to you at level 30. It has many attacks that Pichu would not normally know. Attacks: Volt Tackle Helping Hand Swagger Pain Split However, there is a draw back to the Spiky-Eared Pichu. First, the Pichu is unable to evolve into Pikachu and as such not into Raichu. In addition to this, it is unable to be traded to other games. If you take the Spiky-Eared Pichu to Professor Elm's and have it at the front of your party, you will get some backstory of the Pichu. The Nintendo 3DS is fully backwards compatible with the previous generation, so any of the Nintendo DS handhelds. This means that all multiplayer features will be completely functional and there won't be any bugs that pop-up while playing older titles. But there are a few important things to be aware of when playing DS games on the 3DS. Firstly, DS games will not be in 3D. There are no visual enhancements of any kind, so don't expect any games to start looking more impressive. But you do have a bit of extra choice when it comes to controls. The circle pad - which is Nintendo's name for the analog stick - maps to the d-pad controls. Which means if you're playing a DS game and you want to hit right on the d-pad, you're also able to simply move the circle pad to the right. It's just an extra option that might make more sense given the convenient position of the circle pad on the 3DS. The biggest difference you will notice when taking advantage of backwards compatibility is the adjustments based on the resolution of the screen. Nintendo 3DS - First Hands On

I got some hands-on with several Nintendo 3DS titles and demos. The basic tech demo shown after Nintendo's press conference was really cool, and it did a good job of showing the basic features of the new top screen and its 3D abilities. The best of the screenshots they showed was Zelda. After trying it on the show floor, I got my hands on ten more titles. Samurai Warriors was good. It did not go overboard with the 3D, but it felt natural. The controls were not the best, but it is only a demo. Kingdom Hearts was only a video, but it looked all right at best. Ridge Racer allowed me to actually race, which felt pretty good, but it played with my eyes a bit. I used the analog slider, which felt great. I was also able to briefly check out Resident Evil, Animal Crossing, Metal Gear Solid, Paper Mario, The Sims 3, and Kid Icarus demos. They all looked great, but because of time, I had to move on to other titles. I cannot wait to see the final products. The last demo I was able to try was an augmented reality shooter. It reminded me of System Flaw, as I was moving the 3DS around in real life to shoot spaceships with my face on them. While this was just a demo, it did prove that the 2 cameras on the front work great together to create a wonderful looking 3D environment, despite their 0.3 megpixels. They showed off several new titles for the Wii but undoubtedly the main focus was on the new Nintendo 3DS, the successor to the hugely popular DS line. It features 3D graphics without glasses, a new 3.5 inch widescreen display as well as a standard touchscreen on the bottom. The 3DS is fully compatible with your current DS and DSi games as well. Continuing on the 3DS has three cameras, one on the inside and two on the outside. The two outside cameras are for taking 3D pictures which was a major surprise. Now you can take a view your own 3D pictures straight from the 3DS. In addition you can also watch 3D movies on the handheld which is a huge plus. Graphics are also much improved, really bringing the Nintendo 3DS on par with the Wii in terms of graphics. Sadly no release date or price was announced however.
